{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-217.2201","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 217.2201","heading":"Definitions for KRS 217.2201 to 217.2209.","body":"As used in KRS 217.2201 to 217.2209:\n(1) \"Department\" means the Department for Public Health;\n(2) \"Food\" has the same meaning as in KRS 217.015 and includes any beverage,\ndietary ingredient, dietary supplement, or food additive as defined in KRS 217.015\nintended for human consumption;\n(3) \"Kratom\" means any part of the plant Mitragyna speciosa;\n(4) \"Kratom extract\" means any food, food product, or dietary ingredient containing\nany part of the leaf of the plant Mitragyna speciosa that has been extracted and\nconcentrated in order to provide more standardized dosing;\n(5) \"Kratom processor\" means any person or entity that prepares, manufactures,\ndistributes, or maintains kratom extracts or kratom products or advertises,\nrepresents, or claims to sell, prepare, or maintain kratom extracts or kratom\nproducts;\n(6) \"Kratom product\" means a food, powder, capsule, pill, or any other product\nintended for oral consumption that contains any part of the leaf of the plant\nMitragyna speciosa or any extract thereof; and\n(7) \"Kratom retailer\" means any person or entit y that sells or advertises, represents, or\nclaims to sell kratom extracts or kratom products.","path":["KRS Chapter 217"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54824","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:25Z","sha256":"a53545077e296f72de99166e546f8e0254a8ddf5d0295034c65c8925fb71ebe8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-217.220","next":"us-ky/krs-217.2202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
