{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-217.660","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 217.660","heading":"Definitions for KRS 217.650 to 217.710.","body":"As used in KRS 217.650 to 217.710 unless the context indicates otherwise:\n(1) \"Secretary\" means the secretary for health and family services;\n(2) \"Cabinet\" means the Cabinet for Health and Family Services;\n(3) \"Person\" includes any individual, partnership, corporation, firm, or association;\n(4) \"Hazardous substance\" means any substance or mixture of substances which is:\n(a) \"Toxic\" and has the inherent capacity to produce bodily injury to man through\ningestion, inhalation, or absorption through any body sur face, including toxic\nsubstances which are poisonous;\n(b) \"Corrosive\" on contact with living tissue causing substantial destruction of\ntissue by chemical action, but does not refer to action on inanimate surfaces;\n(c) \"Irritant\" and not corrosive within th e meaning of paragraph (b), which on\nimmediate, prolonged, or repeated contact with normal living tissue will\ninduce a local inflammatory reaction;\n(d) \"Strong sensitizer\" and will cause on normal living tissue through an allergic\nor photodynamic process a  hypersensitivity which becomes evident on\nreapplication of the same substance and which is designated as such by the\nsecretary;\n(e) \"Flammable\" with a flashpoint of eighty (80) degrees Fahrenheit or below;\n(f) \"Radioactive\" as a result of disintegration o f unstable atomic nuclei and emits\nenergy;\n(g) Capable of generating pressure through decomposition, heat, or other means;\n(h) Capable of causing substantial personal injury or illness during any customary\nor reasonably anticipated handling or use; and\n(5) \"Label\" means a display of written, printed, or graphic matter upon the immediate\ncontainer of any substance, or that is easily legible through the outside container or\nwrapper.","path":["KRS Chapter 217"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=9400","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:26Z","sha256":"5a6da8387b8f3d485165666aef901e9b3cdac3202ed40695b4298f8b884a6893","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-217.650","next":"us-ky/krs-217.670"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
