{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-218b.060","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 218B.060","heading":"Registry identification card program -- Required information.","body":"(1) The cabinet shall establish, implement, and operate a registry identification card\nprogram, including registry identification card application and renewal fees, for\nregistered qualified patients, visiting qualified patients, and designated caregivers.\nRegistry identification card application and renewal fees collected by the cabinet\npursuant to this section shall be retained by the cabinet for administrative purposes.\n(2) Registry identification cards shall contain the following:\n(a) The name of the cardholder;\n(b) A designation of whether the cardholder is a registered qualified patient,\nvisiting qualified patient, or designated caregiver;\n(c) The date of issuance and expiration date of the registry identification card;\n(d) A random alphanumeric identification number of at least ten (10) characters,\ncontaining at least four (4) numbers and at least four (4) letters, that is unique\nto the cardholder;\n(e) A bar code or other marking that can be scanned electronically;\n(f) A photograph of the cardholder, if the cabinet's administrative regulations\nrequire one;\n(g) The telephone number and website address for the electronic monitoring\nsystem established pursuant to KRS 218A.202;\n(h) If the cardholder is a registered qualified patient who has designated one (1)\nor more designated caregivers, the random alphanumeric identification\nnumber of the patient's designated caregivers;\n(i) If the cardholder is a designated caregiver, the random alphanumeric\nidentification number of the registered qualified patient the designated\ncaregiver is receiving the registry identification card to assist; and\n(j) If the cardholder is under eighteen (18 ) years of age, a clear and obvious\ndesignation or identifier indicating that the cardholder is under eighteen (18)\nyears of age.\n(3) (a) Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this subsection, the expiration date for\nregistry identification cards shall be one (1) year after the date of issuance.\n(b) If a medicinal cannabis practitioner states in the written certification that the\nqualified patient would benefit from the use of medicinal cannabis until a\nspecified earlier date, then the registry identificat ion card shall expire on that\ndate.\n(4) The cabinet may, at its discretion, electronically store in the card all of the\ninformation listed in subsection (2) of this section, along with the address and date\nof birth of the cardholder, to allow it to be read  electronically by law enforcement\nagents and licensed cannabis businesses.","path":["KRS Chapter 218B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54618","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:31Z","sha256":"3737e94950363c855fdc837ca91d831f11082f43052a5fab3934eda66c0422d3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-218b.055","next":"us-ky/krs-218b.065"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
