{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-219.011","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 219.011","heading":"Definitions for KRS  219.011 to 219.081.","body":"As used in KRS 219.011 to 219.081:\n(1) \"Secretary\" means the secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services;\n(2) \"Cabinet\" means the Cabinet for Health and Family Services or its designee;\n(3) \"Hotel\" means  every building or structure kept, used, maintained, advertised,\nor held out to the public as a place where sleeping accommodations  are\nfurnished to the public, and  includes motels, tourist homes,  and  similar\nestablishments, but excludes boarding houses and rooming houses;\n(4) \"Person\" means  an individual, or a firm, partnership, company, corporation,\ntrustee, association, or any public or private entity owning or operating a hotel;\n(5) \"Bed and breakfast establishment\" means  a one (1) family dwelling unit, but\nwhich also has guest rooms or suites used, rented, or hired out for occupancy\nor which are occupied for sleeping purposes by persons not members  of the\nsingle-family unit. The innkeeper shall reside on the premises or property\nadjacent to the premises during periods of occupancy. The building shall be\nknown  as either a bed and breakfast home or a bed and breakfast inn;\n(6) \"Bed and breakfast home\" means a bed and breakfast establishment:\n(a) Having five (5) or fewer guest rooms or suites for occupancy;\n(b) In which breakfast and other meals may be served to guests; and\n(c) Whose  innkeeper resides on the premises or property adjacent to the\npremises during periods of occupancy;\n(7) \"Bed and breakfast inn\" means a private inn or other unique residential facility:\n(a) Having six (6) or more guest rooms or suites for occupancy;\n(b) In which breakfast and other meals may be served to the guests; and\n(c) Whose  innkeeper resides on the premises or property adjacent to the\npremises during periods of occupancy; and\n(8) \"Farmstay\" means a bed and breakfast establishment at a farm location whose\nfocus includes agritourism as defined in KRS 247.801.","path":["KRS Chapter 219"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47048","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:31Z","sha256":"b2429fc1653582db9761fb16ebc818d4b25c4e097b4dcad9b268cdc0d8967dac","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-219.010","next":"us-ky/krs-219.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
