{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-21a.350","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 21A.350","heading":"Weighted caseload analysis of need to increase, decrease, or rearrange","body":"circuits or districts or reallocate judges -- Certification of necessity.\n(1) Beginning in 2020 and every eight (8) years thereafter, the Supreme Court may\ndirect the Admini strative Office of the Courts to perform a weighted caseload\nanalysis to determine the need to reduce, increase, or rearrange the\nCommonwealth's judicial circuits and districts, to reallocate the assignment of\njudges, or to modify the number of judges rela tive to their respective populations or\ncaseloads. This analysis shall include caseload totals by case type and case weight\nand the total number of judges necessary for the Commonwealth's judicial circuits\nand districts.\n(2) The Supreme Court shall submit any weighted caseload analysis performed under\nsubsection (1) of this section to the General Assembly by December 31 of the year\nin which the analysis is performed. If the analysis indicates a need to reduce,\nincrease, or rearrange the judicial circuits or  districts, to reallocate the assignment\nof judges, or to modify the number of judges due to population or caseload changes,\na certification of necessity shall be submitted as required by Sections 112 and 113\nof the Constitution of Kentucky, which may include a proposed redrawing of circuit\nor district boundaries, reallocation of the assignment of judges, or modification of\nthe number of judges.","path":["KRS Chapter 21A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47668","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:42Z","sha256":"17ec85b134d8163033e39b78fc1cdc0e34cc3716405511d4a213bd60d24fdcda","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-21a.320","next":"us-ky/krs-22.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
