{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-223.415","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 223.415","heading":"Appointments to board -- Meetings -- Payment of expenses.","body":"(1) The board shall be appointed by the Governor upon the advice of the secretary after\nsoliciting recommendations of interested parties. All members of the board shall be\nresidents of the Commonwealth. The board shall be composed of the following:\n(a) A drill er who is an active member of both the National Water Well\nAssociation and the Kentucky Water Well Association and whose business is\nactively involved in drilling water wells. This member shall serve for an initial\nterm of three (3) years;\n(b) A member who  is a representative of the cabinet who shall serve as the\nexecutive secretary and treasurer of the board and shall be responsible for\nmaintaining records, to serve for an initial term of three (3) years;\n(c) A member who is a hydrogeologist or hydrologist  from the Kentucky\nGeological Survey to serve for an initial term of two (2) years;\n(d) Three (3) members who are water well drillers and who are presently in the\nbusiness of drilling wells, each representing a different geographic region\nwithin the Commonwealth, to serve for an initial term of two (2) years; and\n(e) A member from the public at large, who shall not be in any way connected\nwith a water well business, to serve for an initial term of two (2) years.\n(2) Upon the expiration of the respective terms, each successor shall be appointed in the\nsame manner as the predecessor for a term of three (3) years.\n(3) At the first meeting of the board held in each calendar year, the board shall elect a\nchairperson who shall serve for one (1) year. A majority of  members shall decide\nupon rules of procedure.\n(4) The board shall hold as many meetings a year as are necessary to effectuate the\npurpose of KRS 223.405 to 223.460, but the board must hold at least quarterly\nmeetings. Notice of a meeting shall be sent to each member at least ten (10) days\nprior to the meeting. Five (5) members shall constitute a quorum. Rules of\nprocedure adopted by the board may provide for such additional meetings as are\nnecessary.\n(5) The members of the board shall serve without compensation but may be reimbursed\nfor all actual and necessary expenses incurred while discharging their official duties.","path":["KRS Chapter 223"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=9976","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:34Z","sha256":"0864ac872f698dac57fa95b8d09305a296dd991e5c907dbe785432e962d09f1b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-223.410","next":"us-ky/krs-223.420"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
