{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-224.20-140","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 224.20-140","heading":"Legislative findings and declarations concerning the adoption of carbon","body":"dioxide emission reduction performance standards for electric generating\nunits.\nThe Kentucky General Assembly hereby finds and declares that:\n(1) The United States Environmenta l Protection Agency intends to adopt guidelines to\nreduce carbon dioxide emissions from existing fossil fuel -fired electric generating\nunits under 42 U.S.C. sec. 7411(d);\n(2) The United States Congress charges states, rather than the United States\nEnvironmental Protection Agency, with establishing standards of performance\nunder 42 U.S.C. sec. 7411(d) for existing stationary sources, including fossil fuel -\nfired electric generating units, as a means of furthering the scheme of cooperative\nfederalism under the  federal Clean Air Act and with ensuring that the states have\nthe primary role in managing their own economic and environmental resources; and\n(3) Providing reliable and affordable electricity through using various energy\nfeedstocks for electric generation , including coal, natural gas, nuclear, and\nrenewable resources, as well as using energy efficiently will provide economic and\nenvironmental benefits for the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=43008","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:40Z","sha256":"900a3c339a5c1bed29cd485df544e42ec805cbd7308921791e546993b5d5ced1","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-224.20-130","next":"us-ky/krs-224.20-141"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
