{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-224.20-142","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 224.20-142","heading":"Bases for carbon dioxide emission reduction performance standards for","body":"existing coal-fired electric generating units.\nExcept for adjustments of the performance standard on a case -by-case basis under KRS\n224.20-144, the performance standard that shal l be established for existing coal -fired\nelectric generating units shall be based on the following:\n(1) The best system of emission reduction which has been adequately demonstrated for\ncoal-fired electric generating units subject to the performance standar d. Best system\nof emission reduction shall take into account the cost of:\n(a) Achieving the emission reduction;\n(b) Impacting non-air-quality health and the environment; and\n(c) Maintaining energy requirements needed to serve the load on the electric\ngenerating unit;\n(2) Reductions in emissions of carbon dioxide that can reasonably be achieved through\nmeasures undertaken at each coal-fired electric generating unit; and\n(3) Efficiency and other measures that can be undertaken at each coal -fired electric\ngenerating unit to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions without doing the following:\n(a) Switching from coal to other fuels;\n(b) Co-firing other fuels with coal; or\n(c) Limiting the utilization of the electric generating unit.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=43010","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:40Z","sha256":"30b2f0318d55d80266a05188c7459c7f524e0dfae73fbb370c70e5c4cc0bc830","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-224.20-141","next":"us-ky/krs-224.20-143"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
