{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-224.20-715","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 224.20-715","heading":"Comprehensive vehicle emission control program.","body":"(1) The cabinet shall administer or provide for a comprehensive vehicle emission\ncontrol program which may require the annual inspection of vehicles in counties\ndesignated by Federal Environmental Protection Agency regulation to be\nnonattainment for ozone, car bon monoxide, or nitrogen dioxide if a program is\nnecessary or prudent to meet federal air quality standards and if no Federal\nEnvironmental Protection Agency approved program is being operated by an air\npollution control district, county fiscal court, or combination of county fiscal courts.\nProvided, however, that a county legislative body not currently operating such a\nprogram has affirmatively authorized such a program to be operated either under its\nown or the cabinet's jurisdiction.\n(2) The cabinet shall adopt emission standards which may vary by model year, class of\nvehicle, engine type or size, and may provide for the exemption of certain classes of\nvehicles from the requirements of KRS 224.20-710 to 224.20-765.\n(3) The cabinet shall adopt conditions for compliance certificates and exemption\ncertificates.\n(4) The cabinet may administer or provide for a program to train and certify mechanics\nin the maintenance of control systems and techniques of engine maintenance which\naffect vehicle emissions, and may charge a fee for the program.\n(5) The cabinet may administer or provide for the issuance and revocation of\ncertificates to qualified mechanics and may charge a fee for the certificates.\n(6) The cabinet shall adopt procedures, including inspection schedul es necessary to\nimplement the comprehensive vehicle emission control program.\n(7) The cabinet may promulgate administrative regulations necessary to administer\nKRS 224.20-710 to 224.20-765.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=10364","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:40Z","sha256":"179bee0452ea5a4219a744f7af6aaae15a9af1f2cf22e55909a091bddffaff43","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-224.20-710","next":"us-ky/krs-224.20-717"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
