{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-224.20-717","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 224.20-717","heading":"Reciprocal certificate of vehicle emission testing.","body":"(1) A person registering a motor vehicle in a county required to conduct vehicle\nemission testing under this chapter, who is transferring the registration of the\nvehicle from another state that is also required to conduct vehicle emission testing\nby the Federa l Environmental Protection Agency, shall be issued a reciprocal\ncertificate upon presenting to the cabinet or a county, air pollution control district,\ncontractor, or fleet operator authorized by the cabinet, a valid certificate issued by\nthe other state i ndicating the vehicle was tested and either successfully passed the\ninspection or was exempt from the inspection.\n(2) An out-of-state certificate shall be deemed to be valid in the Commonwealth for a\nperiod not to exceed one (1) year from the date it was i ssued and shall be presented\nto the cabinet or a county, air pollution control district, contractor, or fleet operator\nauthorized by the cabinet, to conduct vehicle emission testing under this chapter.\n(3) A person issued a reciprocal certificate shall not  be required to have the vehicle\ninspected under the provisions of this chapter until the reciprocal certificate expires.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=10365","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:40Z","sha256":"ead0cf36114fbef8807e4718336171500bf3de0dfef6c7c42b2080207ed9eef6","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-224.20-715","next":"us-ky/krs-224.20-720"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
