{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-224.50-855","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 224.50-855","heading":"Waste Tire Working Group -- Members -- Meetings -- Duties.","body":"(1) The Waste Tire Working Group is hereby established and shall be attached to the\ncabinet for administrative purposes and staff support.\n(2) The Waste Tire Working Group shall have the following eight (8) members:\n(a) The director of the Division of Waste Management or his or her designee who\nshall be an ex officio member and also serve as chair;\n(b) The manager of the Recycling and Local Assistance Branch within the\nDivision of Waste Management or his or her designee who shall be an ex\nofficio member;\n(c) One (1) representative of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, to be\nselected by the Commissioner of Agriculture and appointed by the Governor\nfor an initial term of two (2) years and who may be reappointed;\n(d) Two (2) representatives of the Solid Waste Coordinators of Kentucky selected\nby the Solid Waste Coordinators of Kentucky and appointed by the Governor\nfor an initial term of three (3) years and who may be reappointed;\n(e) One (1) county judge/executive appointed by the Governor from a list of three\n(3) nominees submitted by the Kentucky County Judge/Executive Association\nfor an initial term of three (3) years and who may be reappointed;\n(f) One (1) mayor of a Kentucky city appointed by the Governor from a list of\nthree (3) nominees submitted by the Kentucky League of Cities; and\n(g) One (1) representative of private industry engaged in the business of retail tire\nsales appointed by the Governor for an initial term of three (3) years and who\nmay be reappointed.\n(3) The members of the Waste Tire Workin g Group identified in paragraphs (c), (d),\n(e), (f), and (g) of subsection (2) of this section shall receive travel -related expenses\nbut no salary as compensation.\n(4) The first meeting of the Waste Tire Working Group shall be no later than August\n15, 2011. The working group shall meet at least twice a year or more frequently at\nthe call of the chair.\n(5) The Waste Tire Working Group shall:\n(a) Provide advice and input to the cabinet regarding:\n1. The administration and implementation of alternative methods  for\ncontrolling the local accumulation of waste tires;\n2. Developing the concept of a core fee for waste tires;\n3. Improving the manifest system that tracks tires from point of sale to\npoint of disposal;\n4. Developing ways to assist local governments with direct grants for waste\ntire disposal; and\n5. Developing an informational fact sheet on proper waste tire disposal\nunder KRS 224.50 -868(3) and (8) to be made available on the cabinet's\nWeb site and available in print upon request;\n(b) Serve as an advisory body to the cabinet in the development of a formula that\nthe cabinet will use to apportion the money in the waste tire trust fund\nestablished by KRS 224.50 -880 for crumb rubber grants, tire amnesties, and\ntire-derived fuel, and to return a portion of the waste tire funds to local\ngovernments during Commonwealth Cleanup Week for waste tire disposal;\nand\n(c) Provide advice and input to the cabinet on the data development and\npreparation of the waste tire report mandated under KRS 224.50-872.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=49934","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:41Z","sha256":"731cea6760ad6a476839047f4da357c772832388a448194208c3c1283ff4e055","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-224.50-854","next":"us-ky/krs-224.50-856"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
