{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-224a.300","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 224A.300","heading":"Findings and goals of General Assembly regarding provision of water","body":"services in the Commonwealth -- Transfer of responsibility -- Administrative\nregulations.\n(1) The General Assembly finds that it is necessary to encourage regionalization,\nconsolidation, and partnerships among governmental agencies, and private parties\nwhen appropriate, with the goal of making public water and wastewater treatment\nsecure for all Kentuckians. This is accomplished through the maximization of\nfinancial, managerial, and technical resources and the protection of source water of\nthe Commonwealth. Based on these findings, the General Assembly declares that\nthe Kentucky Infrastructure Authority shall implement a program for reliable\ninfrastructure and the security and  safety of water and wastewater systems as\nauthorized in the budget and directed by the General Assembly. The Energy and\nEnvironment Cabinet shall provide technical support to the Kentucky Infrastructure\nAuthority as needed to implement this program.\n(2) The authority shall be responsible for the management and operation of the Water\nResource Information System. The authority shall maintain and, at least annually,\nupdate the information contained in this system to ensure its accuracy.\n(3) The authority may request all branches of state and local government, including\nspecial districts and water districts, to provide information relating to the status of\nexisting plants, the financial condition of existing systems, and the existing\nregulatory authority held b y agencies of government regarding the issue of water\nmanagement. All branches of state and local government shall, to the extent\nreasonable and appropriate, comply with such requests for information.\n(4) The authority shall promulgate administrative regul ations that require a water\nsupply and distribution system receiving or seeking funding to provide current\ninformation regarding the financial, managerial, and technical aspects of its system\nand, thereafter, to furnish updates to the information so provided.","path":["KRS Chapter 224A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54160","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:43Z","sha256":"6827889f2eee5240c7f357dcce14192b52a8d54c4b4fc67d84a198c659d0dae2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-224a.290","next":"us-ky/krs-224a.302"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
