{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-227.491","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 227.491","heading":"Certification of an  electrical installation by  an  inspector --","body":"Invalidation by  another  inspector  prohibited -- Certification and\ninspection of electrical installation without seal prohibited -- Other duties\nof inspector -- Sanctions for inspector's failure to comply.\n(1) An  electrical inspector who certifies an electrical installation shall furnish and\nattach an approval sticker, bearing his or her signature and certification number\nin a conspicuous place on the main service entrance equipment. He or she\nshall also provide the owner of the electrical installation or his or her authorized\nagent with a certificate of approval if the same is requested. A complete record\nof each inspection shall be kept by the inspector, and these records shall be\nmade  available to the department upon its request.\n(2) An electrical inspector shall:\n(a) Not attempt to supplant, overrule, or otherwise invalidate the judgment of\nanother electrical inspector whose  services for a particular building,\nstructure, or other project have been solicited by an owner, contractor,\nmunicipality, or other person without first obtaining express written\nconsent from the designated inspector's office supervising the original\ninspector;\n(b) Not certify unlicensed or unlawful electrical installations;\n(c) Not certify or inspect an electrical installation in a manufactured home or\nmobile home  where the certified installer seal is not present pursuant to\nKRS  227.570;\n(d) Not  certify or inspect an electrical installation in a previously owned\nmanufactured home or a previously owned mobile home when a Class B1\nseal is not present as required by KRS 227.605; and\n(e) Verify required electrical licensure on projects within the inspector's\njurisdiction. The electrical inspector shall report all electrical licensure\nviolations to the department within ten (10) days of discovery.\n(3) Failure of an electrical inspector to comply with any provision of this chapter or\nthe  administrative regulations promulgated thereunder shall subject that\ninspector to review by  the commissioner with possible suspension of\ncertification for a period not to exceed one (1) year from the date of the\ncommissioner's ruling.","path":["KRS Chapter 227"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46963","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:44Z","sha256":"208cbff879bce1d0924f2dc32544c47794da2c1141cce91d14df1e78e311edff","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-227.4901","next":"us-ky/krs-227.492"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
