{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-227.500","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 227.500","heading":"Authority to fix penalty.","body":"(1) A city, county, urban-county, charter county, or consolidated local government may\nfix as a penalty for the violation of any ordinance or resolution passed under the\nprovisions of KRS 227.200 to 227.500, a fine of not less than twenty -five dollars\n($25) nor more than two hundred fifty dollars ($250), or imprisonment for not more\nthan ninety (90) days, or both.\n(2) If properly recommended by an electrical inspector under KRS 227.495, a city,\ncounty, urban-county, charter county, or consolidated local government may fix as a\npenalty for the violation of any ordinance or resolution passed under the provisions\nof this chapter, the Uniform State Building Code, or the standards of safety of the\nCommonwealth of Kentucky, a fine of one thousand dollars ($1,000) for the first\noffense, and a fine of two thousand dollars ($2,000) for each subsequent offense.","path":["KRS Chapter 227"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=10675","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:44Z","sha256":"21d1d0950238c57d418508ceea26e0bede33b03fe3684d3874d9bb04dcf24143","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-227.495","next":"us-ky/krs-227.530"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
