{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-227.700","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 227.700","heading":"\"Fireworks\" defined -- Exceptions.","body":"As used in KRS 227.700 to 227.750, \"fireworks\" means any composition or device for\nthe purpose of producing a visible or an audible effect by combustion, deflagration, or\ndetonation, and which meets the definition of \"consumer fireworks\" as defined in KRS\n227.702 or \"display\" fireworks as defined in KRS 227.706 and as set forth in the United\nStates Department of Transportation's (DOT) hazardous materials regulations.\n\"Fireworks\" does not include:\n(1) Exception number 1: Toy pistols, toy canes, toy guns or o ther devices in which\npaper or plastic caps manufactured in accordance with DOT regulations, and packed\nand shipped according to said regulations, are not considered to be fireworks and\nshall be allowed to be used and sold at all times.\n(2) Exception numbe r 2: Model rockets and model rocket motors designed, sold, and\nused for the purpose of propelling recoverable aero models are not considered to be\nfireworks.\n(3) Exception number 3: Propelling or expelling charges consisting of a mixture of\nsulfur, charcoal, and saltpeter are not considered as being designed for producing\naudible effects.","path":["KRS Chapter 227"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=39502","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:44Z","sha256":"95492121e59da675559ec290ed1144d1be0cb7b2bba31d70dea149cc8d99f359","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-227.665","next":"us-ky/krs-227.702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
