{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-227a.020","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 227A.020","heading":"Prohibitions -- Local licensing programs.","body":"(1) A person who is not licensed as an electrical contractor shall not represent himself\nor herself to the public as an electrical contractor or use any terms, titles, or\nabbreviations which express or imply that the person is a licensed electrical\ncontractor.\n(2) A person who is not licensed as a master electrician shall not represent himself or\nherself to the public as a master electrician or use any terms, titles, or abbreviations\nwhich express or imply that the person is a licensed master electrician.\n(3) A person who is not licensed as an electrician shall not represent himself or herself\nto the public as an electrician or use any terms, titles, or abbreviations which\nexpress or imply that the person is a licensed electrician.\n(4) A person who is not licens ed as an electrical contractor, electrician, or master\nelectrician shall not engage in any activities or perform any of the duties usually\nperformed by an electrical contractor, electrician, or master electrician unless the\nunlicensed person is under the d irect supervision of a licensed electrician or master\nelectrician who is present on the site where the work is being performed.\n(5) An authorized local licensing program in existence on June 24, 2003, may contract\nwith the department to become an agent of the department for purposes of the\nissuance and renewal of licenses issued pursuant to KRS 227A.010 to 227A.140.\nThe department may also contract with local governments that want to become\nauthorized licensing programs.\n(6) KRS 227A.010 to 227A.140 shall supersede all ordinances or regulations regulating\nelectricians, master electricians, and electrical contractors of any city, county,\nurban-county, charter county, or consolidated local government. This provision\nshall not affect city, county, urban -county, charter county, or consolidated local\ngovernment regulations relating to zoning requirements or occupational payroll\ntaxes pertaining to electricians, master electricians, and electrical contractors.","path":["KRS Chapter 227A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=10719","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:44Z","sha256":"8aa944b766c9f6cab6480229df63ee1665f48e873734bad3a1fc091f402072dc","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-227a.010","next":"us-ky/krs-227a.030"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
