{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-229.171","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 229.171","heading":"Commission  to control and  manage  unarmed  combat  shows  --","body":"Administrative regulations -- Development  of regulatory programs  and\nprocedures.\n(1) The  commission is vested with the sole direction, management,  control, and\njurisdiction over all unarmed combat shows to be conducted, held, or given\nwithin the Commonwealth.  The commission is hereby given the sole control,\nauthority, and jurisdiction over all licenses to:\n(a) Hold unarmed combat shows for prizes or purses or where an admission\nfee or donation is received, or a ticket or invitation is required to attend;\nand\n(b) Participate in the unarmed combat shows.\n(2) The  commission  may  promulgate administrative regulations it considers\nnecessary or expedient for the performance of its functions provided in this\nchapter. In recognition of the fact that more supervision is desirable in this\narea, it is the intention of the General Assembly to confer upon the commission\nwider discretion than that ordinarily possessed by administrative agencies.\n(3) The commission shall be responsible for the following:\n(a) Developing programs and procedures that will aggressively fulfill its\noversight and regulatory role, with full accountability and internal controls\nto protect athletes in the ring;\n(b) Adhering to the best regulatory practices and due process procedures to\nprotect the regulated community and the interests of the Commonwealth,\nand  ensuring that all education and training requirements for hearing\nofficers and members  serving as hearing officers under KRS  Chapter 13B\nare met;\n(c) Developing the Commonwealth's goals of providing the professional staff\nnecessary to ensure that events are effectively regulated, while allowing\ncommission members  to provide the policy oversight necessary to protect\nthe integrity of the regulatory program; and\n(d) Recommending  changes to statutory and regulatory authorities to best\nprotect athletes, while Promoting Kentucky as a world-class market for\nmajor events.","path":["KRS Chapter 229"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46098","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:45Z","sha256":"34df2bac5af276f684f10fda435c327c03462991278a31a396ea1ecec7a9edcc","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-229.170","next":"us-ky/krs-229.180"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
