{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-236.120","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 236.120","heading":"Certificate of inspection -- Fee -- Term  -- Posting -- Termination --","body":"Suspension  -- Reissuance.\n(1) If, upon inspection, a boiler or pressure vessel is found to comply with the\nadministrative regulations of the department, the owner, user, or insurance\ncompany  of it shall pay to the department the sum  of fifteen dollars ($15).\nWhen  the inspection is made by a special inspector, the inspector shall attach\nthe certificate fee to his or her report. The chief boiler inspector, or his or her\nduly authorized representative, shall issue to the owner or user a certificate of\ninspection for the boiler or pressure vessel bearing the date of inspection and\nspecifying the maximum  pressure under which the boiler or pressure vessel\nmay  be operated. An inspection certificate shall be valid for not more than\nfourteen (14) months from its date in the case of power boilers, and twenty-six\n(26) months in the case of low pressure steam or vapor heating boilers, hot\nwater heating boilers, or hot water supply boilers. The most recently issued\ncertificate of inspection shall be posted in the room  containing the boiler\ninspected or, in the case of a portable boiler, shall be kept in a tool box\naccompanying  the boiler. The most recently issued certificate of inspection for\neach pressure vessel shall be kept in the owner's files.\n(2) No  certificate of inspection issued for an insured boiler, inspected by a special\ninspector, shall be valid after the insurance on the boiler for which it was issued\nterminates. Boilers shall be insured by a company duly authorized by this state\nto carry the insurance.\n(3) The  commissioner or his or her authorized representative may  at any time\nsuspend  a certificate of inspection if, in his or her opinion, the boiler or\npressure vessel for which it was issued cannot be operated without menace to\nthe public safety, or if the boiler or pressure vessel is found not in compliance\nwith this chapter or the administrative regulations of the department. A special\nboiler inspector shall have corresponding powers with respect to suspending\ncertificates of inspection for boilers or pressure vessels insured by the\ncompany  employing him or her. The suspension of a certificate of inspection\nshall continue in effect until the boiler or pressure vessel conforms to this\nchapter and  administrative regulations of the department, and  until the\ninspection certificate is reinstated.\n(4) A suspended certificate of inspection shall be reissued on the recommendation\nof the boiler inspector or special boiler inspector who  first caused  the\nsuspension or at the discretion of the chief boiler inspector.","path":["KRS Chapter 236"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46988","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:50Z","sha256":"2c0eae1dc0c8e2b956da73ecfe4907a0ad3d8f8545591591a163678b3a970748","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-236.110","next":"us-ky/krs-236.130"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
