{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-236.250","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 236.250","heading":"Exceptions to permit requirements -- Payment  of permit to repair fees","body":"-- Emergency  repairs.\n(1) A  person shall not make repairs affecting the strength or safety of boilers or\npressure vessels without first securing a permit from the department unless\nrepairs have been authorized by a boiler inspector or special boiler inspector\npending issuance of the permit or unless such repairs are emergency repairs\nauthorized by the department, a special boiler inspector or a boiler inspector\npending issuance of the permit. A permit shall not be required for emergency\nitems not affecting the strength of the boiler or pressure vessel, when\nperformed by qualified welders regularly employed by firms utilizing properly\nqualified welding procedures. Permits shall only be issued to persons licensed\nunder this chapter. A permit fee shall be paid directly to the department, and\nshall accompany the repair application.\n(2) Payment  of permit to repair fees shall be required from operating companies\nperforming pressure vessel repairs in accordance with the National Board of\nBoiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors inspection code and utilizing properly\nqualified welding procedures and regularly employing qualified welders to weld\non boilers owned and operated by such firm.\n(3) For  emergency  repairs authorized by a boiler inspector or special boiler\ninspector, a repair permit shall be obtained and filed with the department within\nthirty (30) days of repair completion.","path":["KRS Chapter 236"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46993","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:50Z","sha256":"57e9cb339713bef053ec8ca02b10733fa3d012558387a61823a4d5152b477eb5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-236.240","next":"us-ky/krs-236.260"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
