{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-237.020","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 237.020","heading":"Right of Kentucky residents, out -of-state residents, and residents of other","body":"countries to buy firearms.\n(1) Residents of the Commonwealth of Kentucky who are citizens of the United States\nshall have the right to purchase or otherwise acquire rifles, sh otguns, handguns, and\nany other firearms which they are permitted to purchase or otherwise acquire under\nfederal law and the Kentucky Revised Statutes from properly licensed dealers,\nmanufacturers, importers, or collectors, and unlicensed individual person s in\nKentucky or in any other state or nation outside of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.\n(2) Residents of states other than the Commonwealth of Kentucky who are citizens of\nthe United States shall have the right to purchase or otherwise acquire rifles,\nshotguns, handguns, and any other firearms which they are permitted to purchase or\notherwise acquire under federal law and the Kentucky Revised Statutes from\nproperly licensed dealers, manufacturers, importers, or collectors, and from\nunlicensed individual persons in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.\n(3) Citizens of countries other than the United States shall have the right to purchase or\notherwise acquire rifles, shotguns, handguns, and any other firearms which they are\npermitted to purchase or otherwise acquire u nder federal law and the Kentucky\nRevised Statutes from properly licensed dealers, manufacturers, importers, or\ncollectors, and from unlicensed individual persons in the Commonwealth of\nKentucky.\n(4) All such sales shall conform to the requirements of fede ral law, the Kentucky\nRevised Statutes, applicable local ordinances, and the law of the purchaser's state.","path":["KRS Chapter 237"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=11118","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:50Z","sha256":"2a403d9d88c99623ca2844bafbfd5b7a48204e0c362c7b92121ac4fc1f8c7f03","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-236.990","next":"us-ky/krs-237.025"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
