{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-237.132","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 237.132","heading":"Failure to report insufficient firearms training when receiving certification","body":"without notice to specified law enforcement or prosecutorial personnel.\n(1) A person is guilty of failure to report insufficient firearms training when he or she\nreceives certification that he or she has successfully completed a firearms instructor\ntrainer, certified firearms instructor, or applicant training course and has not, in fact\nreceived lecture instruction, the showing of a required visual aid, hands -on firearm\nsafety training, range instruction and range firing, a demonstration of firearm\nmaintenance and cleaning procedures, or has not successfully completed the\nmarksmanship requirement during range firing and has not reported the matter in\nwriting to the sherif f, Commonwealth's attorney, or county attorney serving the\ncounty in which the training was conducted or has not made a written report to the\nDepartment of Kentucky State Police and provided a copy of the certification\ndocuments to the agency reported to along with the report. The report shall be made\nnot more than thirty (30) working days after receiving documentation of successful\ncompletion of training, unless additional time is requested and has been granted by\nan officer or agency to which a report shall be made.\n(2) Failure to report insufficient firearms training is a Class A misdemeanor.\n(3) A person who makes a report pursuant to this section within the time frame\nspecified in subsection (1) of this section shall not be prosecuted for a violation of\nthis section and shall be eligible to reenroll in the level of class for which the person\nwas originally enrolled.","path":["KRS Chapter 237"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47042","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:50Z","sha256":"414d1f1ba1f5cc75cf2476aefc553e413f6e419648c96ac1fa283360f90c3e3b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-237.130","next":"us-ky/krs-237.134"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
