{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-23a.110","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 23A.110","heading":"Additional jurisdiction of family court to be construed to promote","body":"underlying purposes.\nThe additional jurisdiction of a family court division of Circuit Court shall be liberally\nconstrued and applied to promote its underlying purposes, which are as follows:\n(1) To strengthen and preserve the integrity of the family and safeguard marital and\nfamilial relationships;\n(2) To protect children and adult family members from domestic violence and abuse;\n(3) To promote the amicable settlement of disputes that have arisen between family\nmembers;\n(4) To assure an adequate remedy for children adjudged to be dependent, abused, or\nneglected, and for those children adjudicated as status offenders;\n(5) To mitigate the potential harm to the spouses and their children c aused by the\nprocess of legal dissolution of marriage;\n(6) To make adequate provision for the care, custody, and support of minor children of\ndivorce and for those children who have been born out of wedlock; and\n(7) To provide a level of proceedings, when necessary, that is more appropriate to a\nfamily court division of Circuit Court.","path":["KRS Chapter 23A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=20627","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:43Z","sha256":"bcbdcc706f60dc20519bb83a2ea1f94885bc27108d91d5fec3d3b1cef4d81c4e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-23a.100","next":"us-ky/krs-23a.120"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
