{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-23a.205","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 23A.205","heading":"Court costs for criminal cases in Circuit Court -- Payment  required --","body":"Exceptions.\n(1) Court costs for a criminal case in the Circuit Court shall be one hundred dollars\n($100).\n(2) The  taxation of court costs against a defendant, upon conviction in a case,\nshall be  mandatory and  shall not be  subject to probation, suspension,\nproration, deduction, or other form of nonimposition in the terms of a plea\nbargain or otherwise, unless the court finds that the defendant is a poor person\nas defined by KRS  453.190(2) and that he or she is unable to pay court costs\nand will be unable to pay the court costs in the foreseeable future.\n(3) If the court finds that the defendant does not meet the standard articulated in\nsubsection (2) of this section and that the defendant is nonetheless unable to\npay the full amount of the court costs, fees, or fines at the time of sentencing,\nthen the court may establish an installment payment plan in accordance with\nKRS  534.020.","path":["KRS Chapter 23A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46761","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:43Z","sha256":"3e58bec523f54701f40f187f3d1a925f749275f34de049ab2377b69190f57208","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-23a.200","next":"us-ky/krs-23a.206"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
