{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-243.320","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 243.320","heading":"Business authorized by special nonbeverage alcohol license -- Issuance to","body":"certain charitable, public, or private institutions -- Federal ethanol permit.\n(1) A special nonbeverage alcohol license shall authorize the holder to purchase alcohol\nfor nonbeverage purposes only from the holder of a distiller's license, wholesaler's\nlicense, or distributor's license and possess alcohol for use in the manufacture and\nsale of any of the following products, when they are unfit for beverage purposes:\n(a) Denatured alcohol produced, and sold pursuant to Acts of Congress and\nregulations promulgated thereunder;\n(b) Patent, proprietary, medicinal, pharmaceutical, antiseptic, and toilet\npreparations;\n(c) Flavoring extracts, syrups, and food products; and\n(d) Scientific, chemical, mechanical, and industrial products.\n(2) KRS Chapter 242 shall not prevent the issuance of special nonbeverage alcohol\nlicenses to persons located in dry or moist territory nor prevent licensees from\nexercising the privileges granted in the license.\n(3) A special nonbeverage alcohol license may also be issued to any duly authorized\nand bona fide hospital, museum, laboratory, charitable, educational, or similar\npublic or private institution, to a drug store employing a licensed pharmacist, or to a\nlicensed physician. The license shall authorize the licensee to purchase or possess\nalcohol and to use it only for nonbeverage purposes.\n(4) The holder of a special nonbeverage alcohol license may produce, possess, and use\nalcohol in the manufacture of nonbeverage fuel ethanol if the holder also holds a\nbasic permit from the applicable federal agency authorizing ethanol production.","path":["KRS Chapter 243"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=43039","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:53Z","sha256":"f1fe1160aa6b557a8a06542f100258504ad87d0d8c95ad81b7bb1f44e2ea6add","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-243.310","next":"us-ky/krs-243.330"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
