{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-244.090","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 244.090","heading":"Persons whom licensees may not employ -- Exceptions.","body":"(1) A person holding any license shall not knowingly employ in connection with the\nlicensed business any person who:\n(a) Has been convicted of any felony within the last two (2) years;\n(b) Has been twice convicted of any misdemeanor or offense directly or indirectly\nattributable to the use of alcoholic beverages within the last two (2) years;\n(c) For the purposes of selling and serving alcoholic beverages, is under the age\nof twenty (20) years, unless the person employed is at least eighteen (18) years\nof age and under the supervision of a person twenty (20) years of age or older;\nor\n(d) Within two (2) years prior to the date of the person's employment, has had any\nlicense issued under KRS Chapters 241 to 244 or under any other act or\nordinance relating to the r egulation of the manufacture, sale, or transportation\nof alcoholic beverages revoked for cause.\n(2) The provisions of subsection (1)(a) and (b) of this section shall not apply if the\nemployee's duties do not involve the sale, service, delivery, or traffic in alcoholic\nbeverages at the licensed premises.\n(3) A person under the age of twenty (20) years of age whose employment is authorized\nunder subsection (1) of this section shall not have duties that include bartending or\nany activities listed in KRS 529.010(3).\n(4) A person who is at least eighteen (18) years of age whose employment does not\ninclude the sale or service of alcoholic beverages may work in the warehouse of a\nwholesaler or distributor if there is an employee on the premises who is twenty -one\n(21) years of age or older.\n(5) Violation of this section shall subject both employer and employee to penalties\nprovided in this chapter and shall be cause for revocation of license.","path":["KRS Chapter 244"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52573","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:54Z","sha256":"5692e34831095d5b114208ceab4f05d4f55fbdf4435c1c4540a880c93577618a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-244.087","next":"us-ky/krs-244.100"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
