{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-244.180","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 244.180","heading":"Contraband defined.","body":"The following property, even though found and seized in dry territory, is contraband:\n(1) Any  apparatus commonly  used or intended to be used in the manufacture of\nalcoholic beverages and not registered in the office of a collector of internal\nrevenue for the United States. The burden of proof that the apparatus is\nproperly registered shall be on the defendant.\n(2) Any  material, equipment, implements, devices, firearms, and other property\nused  or intended for use directly and immediately in connection with the\nunlawful traffic in alcoholic beverages.\n(3) Any  alcoholic beverages in the possession of anyone not entitled by law to\npossess them.\n(4) Any alcoholic beverages in a container of a size prohibited by law or prohibited\nto the particular party in whose possession they are found.\n(5) Any vehicle, watercraft, or aircraft in which any person is illegally possessing or\ntransporting alcoholic beverages. \"Illegally possessing\" means and includes the\nholding of any alcoholic beverages unless lawfully acquired and intended for\nlawful uses.","path":["KRS Chapter 244"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=45995","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:55Z","sha256":"dfa35f26fb70f6067f7fde330546335effa378b8bc20dedf2b6178ada8a5d5c6","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-244.170","next":"us-ky/krs-244.190"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
