{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-244.195","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 244.195","heading":"Title to contraband seized in dry territory to be vested in appropriate","body":"court -- Destruction of contraband upon conviction of defendant.\n(1) Title to seized contraband included in KRS 244.180(1), (2), (3), and (4) shall be\nvested in the appropriate court within whose jurisdiction the seizure occurred,\nirrespective of whether the contraband was seized by peace officers of the city\nor  county or state administrators or investigators of the department,\nnotwithstanding the provisions of KRS 242.380.\n(2) The court shall order the sheriff for the county in which the contraband included\nin subsection (1) of this section was seized to destroy the contraband, except\nfirearms or ammunition, upon conviction of the defendant.\n(3) Contraband firearms and ammunition shall be transferred to the Department of\nKentucky State Police for disposition as provided in KRS 500.090.","path":["KRS Chapter 244"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=45997","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:55Z","sha256":"4efb163ac500b4976e896636d9ce675dc9f8b26f12f4d3e5c44df51e90112fb7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-244.190","next":"us-ky/krs-244.200"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
