{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-244.500","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 244.500","heading":"Malt beverage premium prohibition -- Exceptions.","body":"(1) Except as permitted by subsection (2) of this section, a licensee shall not offer or\ngive anything tangible of value as a premium, gift, or prize for:\n(a) The return of caps, stoppers, corks, stamps, wrappers, coupons, or labels taken\nfrom any bottle, case, barrel, or package containing malt beverages; or\n(b) Any purpose in connection with the sale of malt beverages.\n(2) The following activities shall be permitted:\n(a) The return of moneys specifically deposited for the return of the original\ncontainers to the owners;\n(b) A premium, gift, or prize by brewers, wholesalers, or distributors to\nwholesalers, distributors, or their employees in connection with sales\nincentive programs;\n(c) Brewer-sponsored national sweepstakes in which major prizes, not including\nbrand-related novelty items, are given to consumers based on certificates\nfound in malt beverage packages or on point of sale materials. Malt beverage\ndistributors, retail licensees, and their employees shall not be eligible to\nredeem the certificates or participate in the national sweepstakes;\n(d) The sale of malt beverages packaged in or securely bundled with brand-related\nnovelty items if the price charged for the packaged or bundled malt beverages\nspecifically includes the cost of the brand-related novelty item; and\n(e) Loyalty cards issued by retailers that reward customers with points or\ndiscounts for buying goods or services.","path":["KRS Chapter 244"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50401","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:55Z","sha256":"e978ee94afc871a594a2ba249a355cde47d8f37e3fdd3fd4378ced39c52a984a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-244.490","next":"us-ky/krs-244.510"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
