{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-246.010","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 246.010","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context requires otherwise:\n(1) \"Board\" means the state Board of Agriculture;\n(2) \"Commissioner\" means the Commissioner of Agriculture;\n(3) \"Department\" means the Department of Agriculture;\n(4) \"Structure\" means a buildi ng erected as a shelter for human beings, animals or\nagricultural products, equipment, or supplies;\n(5) \"Agriculture\" means the business of raising or producing:\n(a) Crops, the products of which are used for food, feed, fiber, energy, or\npharmaceuticals;\n(b) Horticulture products;\n(c) Tobacco;\n(d) Aquaculture products;\n(e) Livestock, poultry, and ratite birds and eggs;\n(f) Milk and milk products;\n(g) Eggs and egg products;\n(h) Bees and bee products; and\n(i) Timber;\n(6) \"Horticulture\" means the business of raising fruits, nuts, vegetables, flowers,\nornamental plants, shrubs, trees, herbs, and the starts or transplants needed to\nproduce these items;\n(7) \"Aquaculture\" means the science, art, and business of producing and ra ising aquatic\norganisms under controlled or semicontrolled conditions;\n(8) \"Livestock\" means cattle, sheep, swine, goats, horses, llamas, buffaloes, or any\nother animals of the bovine, ovine, porcine, caprine, or equine species, deer and elk,\nwhose regulat ory requirements are under KRS Chapters 150 and 246, that are\nprivately owned and raised in a confined area for breeding stock, food, fiber, and\nother products; and\n(9) \"Poultry\" means chickens, ducks, turkeys, or other domestic fowl being raised or\nkept on any premises in the Commonwealth for profit.","path":["KRS Chapter 246"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=11507","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:55Z","sha256":"1e9c005170199475fdb63ad7a521d4ca1d0f37856632263a87a4d9c58d026638","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-244.992","next":"us-ky/krs-246.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
