{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-246.120","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 246.120","heading":"State Board of Agriculture.","body":"(1) The board shall consist of eighteen (18) members  as follows:\n(a) The commissioner or the commissioner's designee, who shall be a voting\nmember  and serve as chairman;\n(b) The dean of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and\nEnvironment or the dean's designee, who shall be a voting member  and\nserve as vice chairman;\n(c) Thirteen (13) citizens of the  Commonwealth  appointed by  the\nCommissioner who shall serve as voting members, specifically:\n1. Four  (4) members  who  are farmers with experience in crop\nproduction, each of whom  shall be selected from a list of at least\nthree (3) individuals nominated by the Kentucky Corn Growers\nAssociation, the Kentucky Small Grain Growers Association, the\nKentucky Soybean Association, or other similar trade organizations\nor commodity groups;\n2. Four  (4) members  who  are farmers with experience in animal\nagriculture, each of whom  shall be selected from a list of at least\nthree (3) individuals nominated  by  the Kentucky Cattlemen's\nAssociation, the Kentucky Dairy Development Council, the Kentucky\nPork Producers Association, the Kentucky Poultry Federation, the\nKentucky Sheep  and Goat Development Office, or other similar\ntrade organizations or commodity groups;\n3. Three (3) members  who shall be appointed from the state at large\nwho  are farmers with due consideration to geographical distribution\nthroughout the state and industry representation;\n4. One  (1) member  who shall be appointed from a list of at least three\n(3) individuals nominated by  the AgriBusiness Association of\nKentucky  or  other similar trade organizations representing\nagribusiness; and\n5. One  (1) member  who shall be appointed from a list of at least three\n(3) individuals nominated by the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation;\n(d) The state president of the Kentucky FFA Association who shall serve as a\nnonvoting member  for the duration of his or her term;\n(e) The  state president of the Kentucky Young  Farmers Association who\nshall serve as a nonvoting member  for the duration of his or her term; and\n(f) The state president of the Kentucky 4-H who shall serve as a nonvoting\nmember  for the duration of his or her term.\n(2) The  members  who  serve on  the board  and  were  appointed by  the\nCommissioner  shall serve four (4) year terms and shall serve until their\nsuccessors are duly appointed and qualified. No more than eight (8) of the\nthirteen (13) shall belong to the same political party.\n(3) Upon  the expiration of the term of a member  of the board, the Commissioner\nshall appoint a successor. A board member  whose  term has expired shall\nserve until a replacement has been appointed and qualified.
