{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-246.260","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 246.260","heading":"State aid for promotion of sheep industry.","body":"(1) As used in this section, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(a) \"Department\" means the department of agriculture;\n(b) \"Commissioner\" means the commissioner of agriculture;\n(c) \"Show, exhibition and sale\" shall not include those held as a part of or in\nconnection with any county or other local fair.\n(2) It shall be the duty of the department to aid, encourage, foster and promote the\ndevelopment and improvement of the sheep industry in Kentucky. To that end, it\nshall be the duty of the department to promote, and assist in the promotion of shows\nand sales of sheep in Kentucky with the object and purpose of maintaining\nKentucky's national recognition as a sheep state for breeding, producing, raising,\nexhibition, showing and sale of sheep and for said purpose s there hereby is\nappropriated out of the general fund to the department the sum of three thousand\ndollars ($3,000) for each of the fiscal years 1951-1952 and 1952-1953.\n(3) From the appropriation made in subsection (2) of this section, one thousand dollar s\n($1,000) shall be used and applied in each of said fiscal years for the payment of\npremiums for district shows and sales which may be held in Kentucky in each of the\nfiscal years, 1951-1952 and 1952-1953 which is open on equal terms and conditions\nto all  Kentucky 4 -H club members with a sheep project. One thousand dollars\n($1,000) shall be used and applied in each fiscal year for the payment of premiums\nfor district shows and sales which may be held in Kentucky in each of the fiscal\nyears, 1951-1952 and 1952-1953 which is open on equal terms and conditions to all\nKentucky future farmer members with a sheep project. One thousand dollars\n($1,000) shall be used and applied in each of the fiscal years for the payment of\npremiums for district shows and sales which may be held in Kentucky in each of the\nfiscal years, 1951-1952 and 1952-1953 which is open on equal terms and conditions\nto all Kentucky adult sheep raisers in Kentucky. No Kentucky adult sheep raiser\nmay show, exhibit or sell in more than one district show.\n(4) Any show, exhibition and sale of sheep to be eligible to receive the aforesaid\nappropriations must provide that the entries in all classes must be open upon equal\nterms to all breeders of such sheep in Kentucky. The commissioner shall determine\nwith respect to the aforesaid sheep which shows, exhibitions and sales in each year\nshall receive assistance and, in making such determination, he may consider such\nshows, exhibitions and sales as may have been held in Kentucky in any previous\nyear and in any previous two (2) year period.","path":["KRS Chapter 246"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=11540","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:56Z","sha256":"7d35831a7ed00f3c70ea3f2d046e5674ef2b35efbced6c32d19ded00c410f205","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-246.250","next":"us-ky/krs-246.270"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
