{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-246.600","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 246.600","heading":"Legislative findings relating to alternative fuels.","body":"The General Assembly declares:\n(1) Alternative fuels are vitally important to the Commonwealth because the alternative\nfuel may:\n(a) Reduce pollution;\n(b) Improve energy security; and\n(c) Support the Commonwealth's economy;\n(2) Alternative fuels derived from resources within the Commonwealth, including:\n(a) Ethanol derived from corn;\n(b) Biodiesel derived from soybean oil;\n(c) Waste streams;\n(d) Renewable or zero emissions energy sources;\n(e) Gaseous carbon-18 oxides; and\n(f) Alternative jet fuels generated by agricultural production facilities in the\nCommonwealth;\nreduce undesirable impacts to the environment and provide additional demand for\nthose resources;\n(3) Environmental benefits resulting from alternative fuels include:\n(a) Reduced harmful emissions, including carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and\nsulfur; and\n(b) Improved air quality by reducing ozone-forming emissions;\n(4) Alternative fuels may:\n(a) Stimulate the economy;\n(b) Create jobs across the Commonwealth;\n(c) Diversify the Commonwealth's energy supply; and\n(d) Reduce dependence on imported fuels;\nthrough the development of a production network in the Commonwealth for\nconsumers in the Commonwealth;\n(5) There are various other benefits which may be achieved, including improved:\n(a) Performance of vehicles that results in a reduction of operation costs for the\ncitizens of the Commonwealth; and\n(b) Transportation systems, including the creation of a sustainable supply; and\n(6) Its commitment to:\n(a) A full evaluation of the Commonwealth's jet fuel tax policy positions; and\n(b) Furthering research and development to build an alternative fuels policy that\nmay be declared the best in the nation.","path":["KRS Chapter 246"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56348","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:56Z","sha256":"5c69c7362a9f0f7d7ff8b925891f62d8d7c1f7a882ad4e6a972e24319653f5d2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-246.590","next":"us-ky/krs-246.605"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
