{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-247.130","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 247.130","heading":"President -- Administrative divisions -- Employees  and agents --","body":"Contracts with management  corporation.\n(1) The State Fair Board shall have the sole authority to employ or contract with a\npresident who shall not be one of their number. The president shall be the chief\nexecutive officer for the board. The employment or contract of a president shall\nbe on the basis of training, ability, and experience. A president shall hold his\nposition during the pleasure of the board, but may  be removed only by an\naffirmative vote of a majority of the members  of the board and upon thirty (30)\ndays written notice. A president shall be responsible for the administration of\nthe policies set by the board and shall devote his entire time and attention to\nthe performance of such duties and work as may be required of him by law or\nbe  assigned to him by the board. The  board shall determine the term,\nconditions, and compensation of its president, provided such term does not\nexceed four (4) years.\n(2) The president shall have the authority to organize such administrative divisions\nas may be necessary and may designate chiefs of such divisions who, under\nhis control and supervision, shall have the duties of direction of such divisions.\nThe  president shall organize a Division for Personnel Management  and Staff\nDevelopment  which shall manage  all personnel matters, including staff\ndevelopment and training and programs for affirmative action. The director of\nthis division shall be appointed by the president, and said appointment shall be\nsubject to confirmation by the board. The president shall employ such other\nemployees  and agents as he deems  necessary for the carrying out of the\npolicies of the board and to conduct the affairs of the State Fair, and shall fix\nthe duties and compensation of any employees or agents with the approval of\nthe board.\n(3) The board shall have the sole authority to employ or contract with such other\npersons, firms, or corporations as the board may deem necessary or desirable\nto accomplish its duties and functions; shall fix the compensation and the terms\nof employment or contract of those employed or contracted with; and may\nassign to them such duties and responsibilities as the board may determine,\nincluding the responsibility of actual operation of any or all of the facilities under\nthe control of the board.\n(4) The  president and any persons employed under this section shall not be\nsubject to the provisions of KRS Chapter 18A.","path":["KRS Chapter 247"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50766","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:56Z","sha256":"016435b0a9127dbc984f197486c15d43042f7ac741185f72a03a59c40cbdd287","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-247.120","next":"us-ky/krs-247.140"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
