{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-247.2353","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 247.2353","heading":"Requirements for patrons of amusement rides and attractions -- Penalties","body":"-- Exceptions -- Display of penalties.\n(1) All patrons of amusement rides or attractions shall:\n(a) Obey all signage posted in conspicuous locations, including but not li mited to\nwarning signs, instruction signs, and directional signs pertaining to the\namusement rides or attractions;\n(b) Obey all verbal instructions from amusement ride or attraction operators; and\n(c) Maintain all safety devices, including but not limited to seat belts, restraint\nbars, and harnesses in accordance with all instructions from operators and\nposted signage.\n(2) All patrons of amusement rides or attractions shall refrain from:\n(a) Engaging in any activity that may cause bodily harm or death;\n(b) Interfering in any manner with the normal operation of the amusement ride or\nattraction;\n(c) Disconnecting or disabling any safety device at any time unless at the express\ninstruction of the operator;\n(d) Extending arms or legs beyond the seating area unle ss at the express\ninstruction of the operator;\n(e) Throwing, dropping, or otherwise expelling any object from any amusement\nride or attraction;\n(f) Embarking on or disembarking from any amusement ride or attraction except\nat the designated time and area or at the direction of the operator;\n(g) Unreasonably controlling the speed or direction of any amusement ride or\nattraction that requires a passenger to control or direct any part of the\namusement ride or attraction; or\n(h) Boarding or attempting to board a ny amusement ride or attraction if he or she\nis under the influence of alcohol or any controlled substance as defined in\nKRS 218A.010.\n(3) Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall, upon request of the\nowner of the amusement ride or attr action, leave the premises on which the\namusement ride or attraction is located without a refund of any admission charges\nor entrance fees.\n(4) Any person who violates subsection (1) or (2) of this section and does not compl y\nwith a request to leave under subsection (3) of this section shall be guilty of\ncriminal trespass in the second degree.\n(5) Subsections (1) to (4) of this section shall not apply to any individual who, due to\nthe following conditions, is not capable of u nderstanding the posted rules or oral\ninstructions:\n(a) Blind or visually impaired as defined in KRS 61.980;\n(b) Deaf or hard of hearing as defined in KRS 61.980; or\n(c) Developmental disability as defined in KRS 387.510.\n(6) Any owner of an amusement ride  or attraction shall conspicuously display the\npenalties for violations of this section near each amusement ride or attraction.","path":["KRS Chapter 247"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=48669","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:57Z","sha256":"5daaedce73b87807aabeb933606fd02f1670d9301fee600076e1c82ddc59c9e0","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-247.2351","next":"us-ky/krs-247.236"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
