{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-247.6003","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 247.6003","heading":"Definitions for KRS 247.6005 to 247.6035.","body":"As used in KRS 247.6005 to 247.6035, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Commissioner\" means the Commissioner of Agriculture;\n(2) \"Board\" means the State Board of Agriculture;\n(3) \"Corn\" means all kinds and varieties of corn, including popcorn, exc ept sweet corn\nand ornamental corns;\n(4) \"Bushel\" means fifty-six (56) pounds of corn by weight or as otherwise defined by\nthe United States Department of Agriculture (USDA);\n(5) \"Producer\" means every person who produces and markets corn;\n(6) \"New produce r\" means a producer who was not engaged in the business of\nproducing corn at the time a referendum was conducted in accordance with the\nprovisions of KRS 247.6001 to 247.6035;\n(7) \"Person\" means any individual, corporation, partnership, association, cooper ative,\nor other business entity;\n(8) \"Marketing year\" means from September 1 to August 31 of the following year;\n(9) \"Purchaser\" means any person, public or private corporation, Federal Commodity\nCredit Corporation, association or partnership buying, accep ting for shipment, or\notherwise acquiring the property in or to corn from a producer, and shall include a\nmortgagee, pledgee, lienor, or other person, public or private, having a claim against\nthe producer, when the actual or constructive possession of the  corn is taken as part\npayment or in satisfaction of a mortgage, pledge, lien, or claim; and\n(10) \"Marketed\" means any quantities that are sold, bartered, or for which other items of\nvalue are exchanged.","path":["KRS Chapter 247"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=11730","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:58Z","sha256":"bdbde903968bd1056da3366c1b99b57ff2db535180d49aeb07310aff2a795ba8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-247.6001","next":"us-ky/krs-247.6005"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
