{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-248.654","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 248.654","heading":"Tobacco settlement agreement fund -- Source of moneys -- Distribution of","body":"funds.\nThere is established in the State Treasury a permanent and perpetual fund to be known as\nthe \"Tobacco Settlement Agreement Fund\" to which shall be credited any funds\ndesignated to the Commonwealth from the master settlement agreement signed on\nNovember 22, 1998, between the participating tobacco manufacturers and the forty (40)\nsettling states or related federal legislation. All investment income earned from moneys\ndeposited in the fund prior to and after April 26, 2000, shall accrue to the fund. Any\nfunds designated to the Commonwealth from the settlement agreement or related federal\nlegislation and all investment income accruing to the fund shall not be expended until\nappropriated by the General Assembly. The General Assembly's highest priority for\ndistributing any funds from this account shall be for tobacco farmers and tobacco -\nimpacted communities and health -related areas. Moneys in the fund, including all\ninvestment income accruing to the fund, shall be distributed within twenty (20) days of\nApril 26, 2000, and within twenty (20) days of receipt of any moneys deposited to the\nfund after April 26, 2000 as follows:\n(1) Fifty percent (50%) to the rural development fund created in KRS 248.655;\n(2) Twenty-five percent (25%) to the early childhood development fund created in\nKRS 200.151; and\n(3) Twenty-five percent (25%) to the Kentucky health care improvement fund created\nin KRS 194A.055.","path":["KRS Chapter 248"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=11961","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:01Z","sha256":"33914ee87b4c16dfc1c28a8bab22900ce7359ad2fc9bff71212c29c8a7b01746","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-248.652","next":"us-ky/krs-248.655"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
