{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-24a.230","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 24A.230","heading":"Jurisdiction -- Authority.","body":"(1) The small claims division shall have jurisdiction, concurrent with that of the\nDistrict Court, in all civil actions, other than libel, slander, alienation of affections,\nmalicious prosecution and abuse of process actions, when the amount of money or\ndamages or the value of the personal property claimed does not exceed two\nthousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) exclusive of interest and costs.\n(2) The division may also be used in civil matters when the plaintiff seeks to disaffirm,\navoid, or rescind a contra ct or agreement for the purchase of goods or services not\nin excess of two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) exclusive of interest and\ncosts.\n(3) The division shall have authority to grant appropriate relief, except no prejudgment\nactions for attachme nt, garnishment, replevin or other provisional remedy may be\nfiled in the division.","path":["KRS Chapter 24A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=39856","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:44Z","sha256":"5083ecf73332bec935cb1cd7cbfe3d951ec26d0c78999d05612e68d08fecdbfe","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-24a.220","next":"us-ky/krs-24a.240"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
