{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-257.030","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 257.030","heading":"Powers of board.","body":"The board may:\n(1) Cooperate with universities and other entities in conducting the necessary scientific\ninvestigations relating to the cause, nature, prevention, and treatment of\ncommunicable diseases of livestock, poultry, and fish;\n(2) Establish, maintain, and enforce any  quarantine and other measures as it deems\nnecessary in controlling the movement of livestock, poultry, and fish into, through,\nor within the state;\n(3) Order and enforce the cleaning and disinfection of premises and all articles and\nmaterials by which com municable diseases may be transmitted, and the destruction\nof diseased and exposed animals and all property and materials, as may be\nnecessary in the eradication of disease;\n(4) Adopt, issue, and enforce administrative regulations necessary for the proper\nadministration and enforcement of the provisions of this chapter, and for the\naccomplishment of the purposes intended to be accomplished by this chapter.\nAdministrative regulations falling within the scope of KRS 257.196 shall be\nadopted, issued, and enforced in conformity with that section; and\n(5) Employ necessary scientific, field, stenographic, and clerical assistants and fix their\nsalaries.","path":["KRS Chapter 257"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=12342","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:06Z","sha256":"7ef787d58c30f07150edd083605922bf98e4ac8990839fc49ab1bfbff379c96d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-257.020","next":"us-ky/krs-257.040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
