{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-257.192","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 257.192","heading":"Kentucky Livestock Care Standards Commission -- Members.","body":"The Kentucky Livestock Care Standards Commission is hereby created to make\nrecommendations to the board to establish, maintain, or revise standards governing the\ncare and well -being of on -farm livestock and poultry. The commission shall be attached\nto the Department of Agriculture for administrative purposes and shall consist of sixteen\n(16) members as follows:\n(1) The state veterinarian, who shall be a nonvoting member;\n(2) The co -chairs of the Interim Joint Committee on Agriculture, who shall be\nnonvoting, ex officio members; and\n(3) Thirteen (13) voting members as follows:\n(a) The Commissioner or the Commissioner's designee, who shall serve as chair;\n(b) The dean of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture or the dean's\ndesignee;\n(c) The chair of the Animal Control Advisory Board or the chair's designee;\n(d) The director of the University of Kentucky Livestock Disease Diagnostic\nCenter or the director of the Murray State University Breathitt Veterinary\nCenter. Each director shall serve one (1) year terms on a rotating basis;\n(e) Four (4) members appointed by the Governor as follows:\n1. One (1) person selected from a list of three (3) submitted by the\nKentucky Farm Bureau;\n2. One (1) person selected from a list of three (3) submitted by the\nKentucky County Judge/Executive Association;\n3. One (1) veterinarian selected from a list of three (3) submitted by the\nKentucky Veterinary Medical Association. The veterinarian's practice\nshall include working on one (1) or more of the species named in\nparagraph (f) of this subsection; and\n4. One (1) citizen at large with an interest in food safety; and\n(f) Five (5) members actively engaged in farming and appointed by the Governor\nwith assistance by the department. The department shall contact commodity\norganizations named in this paragraph, collect a list of potential\nrepresentatives from the organizations, and deliver the list to the Governor.\nThe Governor shall appoint:\n1. One (1) active producer from the list submitted by Kentucky commodity\norganizations representing bovine species;\n2. One (1) active producer from the list submitted by Kentucky commodity\norganizations representing ovine and caprine species;\n3. One (1) active producer from the list submitted by Kentucky commodity\norganizations representing porcine species;\n4. One (1) active producer from the list submitted by Kentucky commodity\norganizations representing equine species; and\n5.
