{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-257.330","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 257.330","heading":"Permit required for auction or community sale of baby chicks or poults --","body":"Application -- Fee -- Inspection -- Destruction of diseased chicks or poults.\n(1) Before any baby chicks or baby poults are offered for sale at any auction or\nauctions, sale barn, or community sale, except public sales conducted by farmers\nselling baby chicks or baby poults reared on their own premises, a permit shall be\nsecured from the Office of State Veterinarian, or the state veterinarian.\n(2) Any person who desires to offer baby chicks or baby poults for sale at any auction\nor auctions, sale barn, or community sale, shall apply to the Office of State\nVeterinarian for a permit to hold the sale. A form shall be prescribed and furnished\nby the office. This application s hall be submitted at least three (3) days before the\nsale to allow time for inspection of the chicks or poults offered by a representative\nof the office before any chicks or poults are sold. This application shall be signed\nby the person who proposes to co nduct the sale, together with the person who owns\nthe property in or on which the sale is to be conducted, if the person who proposes\nto conduct the sale does not own the property. The application shall designate the\ndate of the proposed sale, the number and breed of the chicks or poults to be offered\nfor sale, and the person or firm by whom they were produced, and shall be\naccompanied by a fee in the sum of one dollar ($1) per hundred (100) chicks or\npoults to be offered for sale. The office shall be autho rized in their discretion to\ngrant or to deny the permit requested in the application, and if deemed necessary or\nadvisable to require the applicant to submit a certificate in a form as the office may\nprescribe, certifying that the baby chicks or baby poul ts which may be offered for\nsale are in healthy condition.\n(3) On inspection by the representative of the office, if the chicks or poults offered for\nsale are found to be diseased, the representative may confiscate all chicks or poults\nfound to be diseased and may destroy the chicks and poults.","path":["KRS Chapter 257"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53638","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:06Z","sha256":"6cbb89f0f75011c1192891e058f611e2bf8c9f0d7fc7500ca24d4b297b70be6c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-257.320","next":"us-ky/krs-257.340"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
