All persons employed as peace officers by the department shall meet the\nqualifications set forth in KRS 15.380 to 15.404 concerning officer certification and\ntraining.\n(2) Officers employed by the department shall have full powers as peace officers and\nshall be limited to the enforcement of Department of Agriculture statutes and\nadministrative regulations, except when it is necessary to enforce KRS Chapter 514\nrelated to theft cases involving animals, KRS Chapter 516 related to forgery of\nanimal health certificates, or KRS Chapter 525 related to animal cruelty,\nmistreatment, or torture.\n(3) The department shall establish and maintain an operational procedures manual\noutlining specific actions to be taken by officers pursuant to this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 257"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=12398","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:06Z","sha256":"ec16ae931524d534afcef5751b9ed17f72b6d3195cf43798f5f54f2a1e6d3b94","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-257.480","next":"us-ky/krs-257.495"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
