{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-257.990","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 257.990","heading":"Penalties.","body":"(1) (a) Except as provided by paragraph (b) of this subsection, any person who\nviolates any administrative regulation promulgated by the board under the\nprovisions of this chapter, for the violation of which no other penalty is\nprovided in this section, shall be f ined not less than one hundred dollars\n($100) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500) for the first offense; for each\nsubsequent offense he shall be fined not less than five hundred dollars ($500)\nnor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or be impris oned not more than\nthirty (30) days, or both.\n(b) This subsection shall not apply to administrative regulations promulgated\nunder KRS 257.196.\n(2) Any person who violates KRS 257.040 shall be fined not less than five hundred\ndollars ($500) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000).\n(3) Any person who violates KRS 257.050 shall be fined not less than two hundred\ndollars ($200) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500) for the first offense; for\neach subsequent offense he shall be fined not less than five h undred dollars ($500)\nnor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), and shall be imprisoned for not less\nthan sixty (60) days nor more than one hundred and twenty (120) days.\n(4) Any person who violates subsection (1) of KRS 257.060 shall be fined not less than\nfive hundred dollars ($500) nor more than one thousand five hundred dollars\n($1,500) for the first offense; for each subsequent offense he shall be fined not less\nthan one thousand dollars ($1,000) nor more than two thousand dollars ($2,000),\nand shall be imprisoned for not less than sixty (60) days nor more than one hundred\nand twenty (120) days.\n(5) Any person who violates subsection (2) of KRS 257.060 shall be fined not more\nthan one thousand dollars ($1,000).\n(6) Any person who violates any of the provisions of KRS 257.080 or 257.180 shall be\nfined not less than one hundred dollars ($100) nor more than five hundred dollars\n($500).\n(7) Any person who violates any of the provisions of KRS 257.160 shall be fined not\nless than one hundred dollars ($100)  nor more than five hundred dollars ($500) for\nthe first offense. For each subsequent offense, he shall be fined not less than five\nhundred dollars ($500) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or be\nimprisoned not more than thirty (30) days, or both.\n(8) Any person who violates any ruling of the board or who hinders any agent of the\nboard in carrying out the duties assigned to him, or any officer who refuses to\nenforce the provisions of this chapter when called upon by the board to do so, or\nany othe r person who in any way attempts to hinder or obstruct the board in\ncarrying out the provisions of this chapter shall be fined not less than two hundred\ndollars ($200) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500) for each offense.\n(9) Any person who violates any provision of KRS 257.330 to 257.350 or the\nregulations made thereunder for carrying out their provisions, or who fails or\nrefuses to comply with or intends to deceive, or who answers or represents falsely in\nresponse to any requirement of KRS 257.330 to 257.350, or who willfully interferes\nwith the Office of State Veterinarian or their employees or agents, in the carrying\nout of their duties provided in KRS 257.330 to 257.350, shall be guilty of a\nmisdemeanor. Any person who shall violate any of the pro visions of KRS 257.330\nto 257.350 shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof,\nshall be fined in any sum not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500).\n(10) Any person, firm, or corporation who shall violate any provision of KRS 257.370 to\n257.460 or any rule or regulation made under authority thereof shall be guilty of a\nmisdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in any sum not to exceed\nfive hundred dollars ($500) for each offense.\n(11) Any person who resists, obstructs,  interferes with, threatens, attempts to intimidate,\nor in any other manner interferes with an officer under KRS 257.490 or who\nwillfully refuses to obey his lawful orders shall be fined not more than one thousand\ndollars ($1,000), or imprisoned in the cou nty jail not more than thirty (30) days, or\nboth.","path":["KRS Chapter 257"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=12408","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:06Z","sha256":"5ebd15d9b185c86f9e2db866aa23a6ec7a6cc0bff0992acd1d245414a88b4548","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-257.600","next":"us-ky/krs-258.005"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
