{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-258.990","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 258.990","heading":"Penalties.","body":"(1) Any person who violates KRS 258.015, 258.035, 258.055, 258.065, or 258.085\nshall be fined not less than ten dollars ($10) nor more than one hundred dollars\n($100). Each day of violation shall constitute a separate offense.\n(2) The owner of any dog, cat, or ferret which bites a human being shall be liable to pay\nall damages for personal injuries resulting from the bite of the dog, cat, or ferret.\n(3) (a) Any person violating or failing or refusing to comply with KRS 258.095 to\n258.365, except KRS 258.235(5)( a), shall, upon conviction, be fined not less\nthan five dollars ($5) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100), or be\nimprisoned in the county jail for not less than five (5) nor more than sixty (60)\ndays, or both.\n(b) Any person violating KRS 258.235(5)(a)  shall be punished by a fine of not\nless than fifty dollars ($50) nor more than two hundred dollars ($200), or by\nimprisonment in the county jail for not less than ten (10) nor more than sixty\n(60) days, or both.\n(4) All fines collected under subsection (3 ) of this section shall after costs and\ncommissions have been deducted, be paid to the department to be credited to the\nanimal control and care fund.","path":["KRS Chapter 258"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=12503","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:08Z","sha256":"815af6a64fcdac12ed21574b21799159cbf6bf02dabf456f6eaa11570ad1a909","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-258.505","next":"us-ky/krs-258.991"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
