{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-260.165","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 260.165","heading":"Kentucky Grape and Wine Council -- Composition.","body":"(1) The Kentucky Grape and Wine Council is hereby created within the Department of\nAgriculture. The purpose of the council shall be to promote and facilitate the\ndevelopment of a Kentucky -based grape industry in the Commonwealth of\nKentucky.\n(2) The council shall be composed of the Commissioner of Agriculture, or his designee,\nand nine (9) members appointed by the Governor. Of the nine (9) gubernatorial\nappointments, the Governor shall appoint one (1) from a list of three (3) candidates\nsubmitted by the directo r of the University of Kentucky Agriculture Experiment\nStation, one (1) from a list of three (3) candidates submitted by the secretary of the\nTourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, three (3) winery operators from a list of six (6)\ncandidates submitted by the Commissioner of Agriculture, two (2) grape producers\nfrom a list of four (4) candidates submitted by the Commissioner of Agriculture,\nand two (2) citizens at large.\n(3) Of the members appointed after January 1, 2007, three (3) members shall serve a\nterm of one (1) year, two (2) shall serve a term of two (2) years, two (2) shall serve\na term of three (3) years, and two (2) shall serve a term of four (4) years, as the\nGovernor designates. Thereafter, appointed members shall serve terms of four (4)\nyears and u ntil their successors are appointed and qualify. A vacancy in an\nunexpired term shall be filled for the unexpired portion of the term in the same\nmanner as the original appointment to that term.\n(4) The council shall select a chairman and shall meet at lea st once every three (3)\nmonths at the times and places the chairman designates. Six (6) members present at\nany meeting shall constitute a quorum. Upon the written request of any five (5)\nmembers, the chairman shall call a meeting of the council at the time  and place\nrequested.\n(5) The council may enact bylaws concerning the conduct of the council's business and\nother administrative procedures as the council deems necessary.\n(6) Members shall receive no compensation but shall be reimbursed, payable from the\nKentucky Grape and Wine Council fund, for any actual travel expense incurred\nwhile attending meetings of the council.","path":["KRS Chapter 260"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=12555","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:08Z","sha256":"be7cf792f959b4542daed5e184a04f55fe37b8d28a9d471e447e878847295238","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-260.160","next":"us-ky/krs-260.166"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
