{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-261.370","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 261.370","heading":"Exceptions to provisions of this chapter.","body":"No provision of KRS Chapter 261 shall be construed as applicable to:\n(1) A person who offers for sale or trade only livestock which he has owned or has in\nhis possession for a period of thirty (30) days or longer and who is not regularly\nengaged in the bus iness of buying, selling, trading, or negotiating the transfer of\nlivestock;\n(2) A person who purchases only livestock for feeding or breeding purposes and retains\nsaid livestock in his possession for a period of thirty (30) days or longer and who is\nnot regularly engaged in the business of buying, selling, trading, or negotiating the\ntransfer of livestock;\n(3) A person engaged in the business of buying and slaughtering livestock for food and\nin marketing the meat products therefrom, provided all animals pu rchased are\nslaughtered;\n(4) A person engaged in the purchase or sale of livestock used exclusively for\nexhibition or entertainment purposes in the pursuit of a hobby; and\n(5) A person engaged in sales conducted by or for FFA and 4 -H groups; county, state,\nor private fairs or shows; and breed or livestock associations.","path":["KRS Chapter 261"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=40151","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:10Z","sha256":"c4dd6a007592e46c0f0eff9dac5c69849baa818323e7b03799624e83d96d05bc","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-261.360","next":"us-ky/krs-261.375"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
