{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-261.375","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 261.375","heading":"License required -- Renewal, records of transactions -- Violations --","body":"License revocation or suspension.\n(1) No person shall engage in the business of being a livestock dealer without having\nfirst obtained a license from the department. Application for  a license shall be made\non a form provided by the department and accompanied by a fee of ten dollars\n($10), payable to the Kentucky State Treasurer. The license shall expire on\nDecember 31 and shall be renewed annually.\n(2) Any livestock dealer shall maintain records of all transactions conducted by him for\nthe next preceding two (2) year period, including the names and addresses of\npersons from whom he has purchased or to whom he has sold livestock and the date\nof the transactions, and make the records av ailable to department representatives\nupon request, but shall not be required to maintain or furnish records or information\nas to the amount paid or received for any head of livestock.\n(3) The following acts by any livestock dealer shall be violations of t his chapter and\nmay result in a license being revoked or suspended by the Commissioner of\nAgriculture:\n(a) Failing to maintain the records required under subsection (2) of this section;\n(b) Failing to provide access to department representatives of records;\n(c) Buying or selling livestock under an assumed name or address; and\n(d) Violating of any valid administrative regulation or statute governing disease\ncontrol.\n(4) If the Commissioner has reasonable cause to believe any provision of this chapter is\nbeing or has been violated by any livestock dealer, the Commissioner shall notify\nthe livestock dealer that his license may be suspended or revoked.","path":["KRS Chapter 261"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=12703","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:10Z","sha256":"05f3029b737cd9abdc2187a32ec5e5b957753e91860038169364424d7c1ccff3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-261.370","next":"us-ky/krs-261.380"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
