{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-261.990","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 261.990","heading":"Penalties -- Stop-movement order -- Action to recover fees.","body":"(1) Any person who violates any provision of this chapter or any administrative\nregulation promulgated under this chapter, or who refuses to pay the fees required in\nthis chapter, shall be fined not less than one hundred dollars ($100) nor more than\nfive hundr ed dollars ($500), or shall be imprisoned for not more than three (3)\nmonths, or both.\n(2) In determining the fine for violations of KRS 261.350, each head of livestock that is\nnot paid for in compliance with that section shall be considered a separate offense.\n(3) In addition to the penalties provided in subsection (1) of this section, the\nCommissioner of Agriculture may issue a stop -movement order on livestock to any\nperson required to be licensed or bonded under this chapter who:\n(a) Sells, buys, or othe rwise markets livestock without a dealer or market agency\nlicense;\n(b) Sells or otherwise markets livestock without a current bond or other security\ninstrument or agreement in the sufficient required amount on file with the\ndepartment; or\n(c) Fails to remit or pay fines owed to the department.\n(4) The department or the Office of the Attorney General may recover fees or\nadministrative penalties in a civil action brought by the Commonwealth of\nKentucky.","path":["KRS Chapter 261"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=40149","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:10Z","sha256":"bfad9068d476ba1bdb60b3550503b465a92a89003f05e642f235d43220c4da2e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-261.380","next":"us-ky/krs-262.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
