In so doing, the district is authori zed to\nundertake, sponsor, or participate in projects and activities which promote the\nconservation, development, maintenance and use of the land, water, trees and other\nrenewable natural resources of the district. Such projects and activities shall includ e but\nnot be limited to conservation practices on agricultural lands, the control of soil erosion,\nretardation of water runoff, the construction of flood prevention and control reservoirs,\nthe maintenance of flood plains, the promotion of projects to assur e an adequate\nmunicipal, industrial and agricultural supply of water, watershed stabilization, the\navoidance and abatement of sedimentation and pollution in streams and other bodies of\nwater, forestation and reforestation, the establishment of parks and ou tdoor recreation\nareas, the protection of open space, greenbelt areas and scenery, the preservation of\nwilderness areas, the protection of fish and wildlife, working for the location of highways,\nindustries, housing developments, airports and other structu res as are consistent with the\ndistrict's objectives and will offer the least possible interference with the conservation and\nbest multiple use of the renewable natural resources, and all other activities consistent\nwith the total natural resources development of the district.","path":["KRS Chapter 262"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=12707","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:10Z","sha256":"c4a3223f3c2f90edd0eed76a68d499ba23d1669823366e0589e7c22df7721653","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-262.010","next":"us-ky/krs-262.025"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
