{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-262.100","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 262.100","heading":"Petition for district.","body":"(1) Any twenty-five (25) owners of land lying within the limits of the territory proposed\nto be organized into a district, and within counties that maintain a full -time county\nagricultural extension agent, may file a petition with the commission asking that a\nsoil conservation district be organized to function in the territory described in the\npetition. The petition shall set forth:\n(a) The proposed name of the district;\n(b) A statement that there is need, in the interest of the public health, safety and\nwelfare, for a district to function in the territory described in the petition;\n(c) A description of the territory proposed to be organized as a district, which\ndescription need not be given by metes and bounds or by legal subdivisions,\nbut shall be sufficient if generally accurate;\n(d) A request that the commission define the boundaries for the district; that a\nreferendum be held within the defined territory on the question of the creation\nof a district in that territory; and that the commission determine th at a district\nbe created.\n(2) Where more than one petition is filed covering parts of the same territory, the\ncommission may consolidate all or any of those petitions.","path":["KRS Chapter 262"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=12719","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:11Z","sha256":"dafb08f00f2b62684b95fdbf9782e1c111ba8af2862ed47250e91b0f1158f7eb","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-262.097","next":"us-ky/krs-262.110"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
