{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-267.540","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 267.540","heading":"Enlargement of district.","body":"Any drainage district organized under the provisions of this chapter may be enlarged and\nthe boundaries extended so as to include other contiguous land, in the manner set forth in\nthis section. The board may present a petition to the county judge/executive  who\norganized the district, asking that the boundaries of the district be extended and such\noutlying land be included in the district, particularly describing the land and giving the\nname of the owner. When such petition is filed, the owner of any land to  be included in\nthe district shall be brought before the county judge/executive in the same manner as an\noriginal party to the proceeding, with the same right to protest against the proposed action\nor file exceptions thereto. If no objection is made to the  petition, the county\njudge/executive shall order the land included and the boundaries enlarged or extended as\nprayed. If any objection is made, the county judge/executive shall hear the objection and\nshall order all or any part of the land included as app ears just, and the boundaries shall be\nordered changed accordingly. The land so included shall be subject to all dues,\nassessments and liabilities and entitled to all the benefits and privileges of the district the\nsame as the land originally incorporated.  The owner of any land contiguous to any such\ndistrict may by petition to the county judge/executive and with the consent of the board\nhave his land annexed to the district on such terms as the county judge/executive may\ndeem just, and thereafter his land shall be part of the district the same as the other land in\nthe district.","path":["KRS Chapter 267"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=12919","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:13Z","sha256":"805b3ac7202521d3cab8c264ade24cdd7d6b95f7dd67df0aa22d67fcd8275f6a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-267.530","next":"us-ky/krs-267.550"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
